Preparing for its third year of solo‐branded print publication, Lion Forge Comics brings approximately 60 new titles to market yearly. Lion Forge Labs creates custom comics and animation for companies and organizations that want to convey content in an interesting way that’s scientifically proven to have a higher retention rate than traditional mediums. Lion Forge Labs works with a variety of nationally‐known entities.

Due to explosive growth, Lion Forge has an opening for an Administrative/Office Assistant, who will be responsible for supporting the Director, Operations, assisting the Executive Assistants as needed and ensuring office functions run smoothly. The Administrative /Office Assistant will report to the Director of Operations and will work collaboratively with others to achieve the company’s mission, vision, and goals ensuring that all departmental goals are established and aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.

The successful candidate loves to be organized and enjoys assisting others with an approach that makes visitors and fellow workers feel welcome and comfortable. Exceptional interpersonal skills are a way of life and just come naturally. Lion Forge is growing and so will the responsibilities which include:

  • Answer phones and greet clients/visitors
  • Provide administrative support to the Director Operations to include calendaring, scheduling meetings, reports as well as general office support to the staff when needed
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail; prepare packages and letters for shipping and mailing
  • Maintain conference room calendars; scheduling meetings and technical resources as requested, i.e., video conferencing, teleconferencing, projection, etc.
  • Conference room set up and break down when meetings are scheduled
  • Coordinate food and beverage orders for meetings
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for staff members using Concur
  • Assist departments with filing and general organization
  • Manage kitchen set up and break down
  • Maintain supplies by checking stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating requirements; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; stocking office supplies; delivering supplies to work stations.
  • Maintain office equipment and schedule preventive maintenance
  • Other duties as required

Requirements:

  • One to two years of experience in an office environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Extremely organized and able to create and administer organized, logical systems to help others be organized as well
  • Ability to multi-task and assist in the management of competing priorities and projects
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexible with strong decision making abilities
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications

As a result, a newly created position of Editorial Assistant based in St. Louis is available and ready for that individual who loves digging in and keeping items on task and moving forward; enjoys working collaboratively; on trend and is passionate about their role within the organization! This would be assisting an editor who works remotely located out of New York.

Editorial Assistant Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare acquisitions memos, researching comp titles
  • First read on some pitches and submissions, preparing summaries and reports
  • Maintain editorial schedules and check in with talent on deadlines
  • Write descriptive copy and create and maintain metadata records in Firebrand
  • Take notes at meetings, sharing responsibility with another editorial assistant
  • Work with managing editor to make sure proper approvals are solicited on all OGN covers and interiors
  • Research talent and help maintain talent database
  • Review proofs and check changes against previous rounds
  • Review marketing material such as ads and Forge Forecast pages
  • Help make sure Lion Forge products are produced to the highest standards
  • Attend Editor’s meetings and contribute ideas to overall editorial strategy
  • Bring projects to acquisitions
  • Continually scout new talent and keep on top of industry trends
  • Represent Lion Forge at conferences and trade shows as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Self-starter, able to juggle multiple tasks
  • Strong respect for deadlines
  • Knowledge of children’s books publishing
  • Excellent writing skills
