Gail Simone is a fan-favorite, multiple-award-winning writer of comics and animation, equally adept at writing multiple genres for multiple publishers. Her career highlights include critically-acclaimed runs on such titles as Simpsons Comics, Deadpool, Birds Of Prey, Secret Six, Red Sonja and Domino. She has also written for several popular animated series, including Justice League Unlimited and Brave and the Bold, and co-wrote the Wonder Woman animated film. As an activist for inclusion and diversity in media, she continues to work for wider representation of humanity in comics and other media. She lives on the Oregon coast with her family and greyhound.

Wendy Xu is a Brooklyn-based illustrator and comics artist. She is co-creator of Mooncakes, a graphic novel out in 2019 from Lion Forge Comics. Her work has been featured on Catapult, Barnes & Noble Sci-fi/Fantasy Blog, and Tor.com, among other places. She currently works as an assistant editor curating young adult and children’s books. Maia Kobabe is a graduate of the first ever class in the MFA in Comics program at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. E is the illustrator of TOM O’BEDLAM, a single issue which was accepted into the Society of Illustrator’s Comic and Cartoon Art annual and nominated for an Ignatz Award in 2016. Maia’s short comics have been included in the anthologies ALPHABET (2015), TABULA IDEM (2017), MINE! (2018), GOTHIC TALES OF HAUNTED LOVE (2018), THE SECRET LOVES OF GEEKS (2018), and the forthcoming ADVANCED DEATH SAVES and FASTER THAN LIGHT Y’ALL . Before setting out to work freelance full-time, e worked for over ten years in libraries and now writes book reviews for Publisher’s Weekly. E has been self-publishing comics and zines since 2010, and has attended over fifty comic conventions in that time. More of eir work, including the origins of GENDER QUEER, can be found on tumblr and instagram @redgoldsparks. Eir work is heavily influenced by fairy tales, homesickness, and the search for identity.

Samuel Sattin is a novelist, comics creator, and essayist. He is the writer of the Glint trilogy and Bezkamp (2019), Legend, The Silent End, League of Somebodies, and Adventure Quest. He holds an MFA in Comics from California College of the Arts and has a creative writing MFA from Mills College. He is the director of a toy company in Oakland, California, and teaches at the California College of the Arts.

Emily S. Whitten is an attorney, fiction writer, pop culture journalist and host, and media personality who also occasionally runs genre conventions. She has published columns and webcomics with the likes of ComicMix, MTV Splash Page, Reelz.com, and Movers & Shakers Unlimited, and has had recurring appearances on the Fantastic Forum radio and TV shows and the podcast Made of Fail.
Ben Fisher is an attorney and author whose work spans a broad spectrum of genres and subject matter, but always with an underlying thread of humanity (and a bit of his trademark dry wit).
Michelle Nguyen is an Eisner and Ignatz winning illustrator and comic artist based in Portland, Oregon. She studied fine arts at the University of Puget Sound and Portland State University. She has previously contributed to The Misadventures of Grumpy Cat and Pokey and the Elements: Fire anthology

Michael Uslan is the Originator and Executive Producer of the Batman movie franchise, his credits including, among many others: Batman; Batman Returns; Batman Begins; The Dark Knight; The Dark Knight Rises; Batman: Mask of the Phantasm; Batman Forever; The Batman Lego Movie; Teen Titans Go To the Movies; and upcoming: The Joker; Birds of Prey; Batgirl; and The Batman.
Andrew Pepoy has worked for U.S., British, and French publishers on hundreds of comics on such characters and titles as The Simpsons, Fables, Batman, The X-Men, Iron Man, Star Wars, Godzilla, Transformers, Wallace & Gromit, Scooby Doo, Betty & Veronica, Lanfeust, Uncle Scrooge, and many more. Since 1990 he has written and drawn many stories of his own Harvey Award-nominated creation, The Adventures of Simone & Ajax, which has been collected in book form by IDW and appears as a webstrip at www.simoneandajax.com, with a new series in production. Having been nominated several times, Andrew won an Eisner award in 2009 and has also won an Inkwell Award and been nominated for the Harvey and Hugo Awards. He now lives in Chicago. Spring saw the release of both Gender Queer: A Memoir from Maia Kobabe (who uses pronouns e, em, eir); a moving work of graphic nonfiction detailing eir coming of age and coming out as non-binary, and the first collection of the beloved webcomic, Our Super Adventure from Sarah Graley(Rick and Morty, Kim Reaper) and Stef Purenins; documenting all the weird little everyday flashes of shared absurdity that make up relationships. Join us for a discussion on how and why the comic book medium provides the perfect format for telling the life stories of the people behind them.
